CSV Import Best Practices

How to format your file to ensure a smooth, error-free import

Uploading a clean CSV helps your contacts import faster and prevents skipped or missing records. Follow these guidelines before uploading your file.

✅ Required Fields

Each row must include the minimum information below.
If required fields are missing, the contact will be skipped during import.

Last Name ✅
Street Address ✅
City ✅
State ✅
Zip Code ✅
Phone or Email – ReEngage ✅ At least one contact field (phone or email) is required.
Phone or Email – Outreach ✅ Required only when enrich is NOT selected

📌 Outreach Import Rules

Scenario Requirement
Outreach (Enrichment = Yes) Only the property address fields are required (Street, City, State, Zip).
Outreach (Enrichment = No) All Required Fields + one contact field (phone or email) is required.

 

🧹 File Formatting Rules

Rule Why
Use the provided template Ensures correct column order
Do not rename headers System matches columns by name
Remove blank columns Prevents import errors
Remove special characters (* / , etc.) Prevents import errors
Remove formulas or styling Only plain text should be included
Save as .CSV Required file type

✂️ Before Uploading Checklist

Quick 30-second review:

  • No empty rows

  • No merged cells

  • No bold or colored formatting

  • No extra tabs or sheets

  • Phone numbers formatted consistently

  • At least one contact method per row (when required)

💡 Pro Tips

  • Address Formatting Tip:

    For the best results, keep address components in separate columns (Street, City, State, Zip). Combining them into a single field can prevent properties from appearing correctly on the map or being enriched properly.

Example of correct format:

Street Address City State Zip
123 Main St Augusta GA 30907

 ❌ Avoid combining the full address into one field like:
  123 Main St Augusta GA 30907
