Coming Soon: Local Area Codes for SMS Messaging
We’re excited to announce that GlassHouse will be transitioning from Toll-Free Numbers (TFNs) to local area codes for outbound SMS messaging. This update is designed to improve trust, deliverability, and response rates by giving your customers a familiar, local number when you reach out to them.
What’s Changing
Right now, SMS messages are sent through a shared Toll-Free Number.
With our upcoming update, your account will be able to send messages from a dedicated local area code number that matches your service area.
This brings major advantages:
-
Higher trust: Customers respond more often to local numbers
-
Better deliverability: Local numbers see fewer carrier blocks than TFNs
-
More consistent branding: Your texts feel personalized and community-focused
-
Future-proofing: Local area codes align with upcoming carrier regulations
What You Need to Do
To get your local number assigned correctly, we’ll need a few pieces of information for 10DLC registration and compliance.
If you haven’t submitted your required information, please schedule a quick 15-minute setup call so we can gather everything required:👉BOOK YOUR TIME HERE
Completing this step ensures your transition from TFN → Local Area Code is smooth and your new number activates as soon as the feature goes live.
Why This Matters
Local numbers consistently outperform toll-free numbers in trust, reply rates, and long-term deliverability. Moving to area codes that match your market helps you WIN smarter with every message.
